PRIVACY

Analytics, advertising and privacy

We use our own analytics to understand which articles, industry nodes and company profiles are useful to readers. Analytics reports are available only to site administrators.

What our analytics records

We record views of public pages; openings of industry nodes and company profiles; clicks on company search results; reading time while an article is in the foreground and its scroll progress; clicks on external source links; successful feedback submissions; and impressions and clicks for banner advertising managed by this site. Traffic sources are grouped into categories such as search engines and social platforms, and devices are grouped as phones, tablets and computers. If you arrive through a promotional link registered by this site, we also record its identifier and match it to the publishing platform, promotion topic and post to understand which promotion brought readers.

We estimate visits using a random identifier stored temporarily within the browser tab. It is renewed after 30 minutes of inactivity or when you arrive through another registered promotional link. We do not link this identifier to a name, email address or member account. Our analytics database does not record freely entered search text, feedback descriptions, complete referring URLs or IP addresses. Administrator activity is excluded from analytics.

Retention and your choices

Detailed activity records are limited to the most recent 90 days. Expired records are deleted when new analytics arrive or a report is opened. The hosting service may still process connection data to provide its services and maintain security. Our own analytics does not provide cross-site tracking or screen recordings.

You can disable our analytics for this browser below without affecting maps, articles or feedback. Existing historical records are deleted according to the retention period described above.

Google Analytics 4 and promotional sources

We load Google Analytics only after you explicitly allow it. It uses cookies to analyze public page views, registered UTM promotional sources and content interactions. We set the Analytics cookie lifetime to 90 days and disable Google signals and advertising-personalization signals.

We send the canonical URL and title of public pages, the referring website's domain and registered promotional codes. We do not send the original text from search boxes, feedback form content or other URL parameters. Google still processes device and connection data to provide its services; see how Google uses information from partner sites. GA4 data retention follows that service and its property settings, separately from our own reports.

You can refuse or withdraw Google Analytics consent below. You can still use the site after refusing it and can separately disable our own analytics. These choices do not change your AdSense advertising-consent settings.

Google AdSense and third-party advertising

This site includes Google AdSense code for site verification and advertising services. Public content pages load Google's code; whether advertisements actually appear depends on Google's review and advertising settings.

Google and other third-party advertising providers may use cookies to show ads based on your previous visits to this site or other websites. Google and its partners may use advertising cookies for personalized ads. This processing follows each provider's privacy policy and is separate from our own analytics.

You can manage or disable personalized advertising in Google Ads Settings and read how Google uses information from partner sites. Other third-party advertising preferences can be managed through the advertising choices tool.

Preferences for this browser

Disabling analytics stops both our own analytics and GA4. It does not change Google advertising preferences. Your choice is stored only in this browser. If you allow analytics again, it takes effect the next time a page loads. Analytics remains disabled if your browser enables Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control.

Allowing Google Analytics enables its cookies and sends public page views, registered promotional sources and content interactions to Google. Refusing it does not affect reading or disable our own analytics setting above.
