INDUSTRY INDEX
Find your starting point
Browse 593 sourced industry entries. Brief entries are grouped into handbooks; detailed explainers retain their own pages.
Supply-chain handbooks
Etch equipment: advanced processes, components and consumables
Start with PCB versus wafer etch, distinguish conductor, deep dielectric and selective processes, then follow power, gas delivery, vacuum, thermal control and chamber parts. Companies are mapped by public roles; product capabilities, historical supply evidence and model-specific bills of materials are assessed separately.
Computers, notebooks and tablets: components and system roles
Trace chips, boards, mechanics, batteries and manufacturing across desktops, notebooks and tablets. Shared components reuse existing chains; AI PCs are a subset, not a replacement for general computer categories.
Computer peripherals: displays, keyboards, mice and touch input
Distinguish panels from monitors, keyboard modules from branded products, and motion sensors from mouse controllers. Trace official capabilities and the applicability of touch, backlights and wireless connectivity.
Glasses-free 3D: materials, micro-optics and tracking
Trace optical base films and UV resins through microstructure replication, alignment, eye tracking and pixel weaving. Fixed lenses and switchable optical layers are alternative routes. Companies are mapped by public capabilities, not confirmed Sony supply contracts.
Electronics resource recovery: retired equipment, PCBs, wafers and chemicals
Trace retired equipment, PCB/IC scrap and process liquids into refining, recovered copper and gold salts. Distinguish wafer reclaim, silicon slurry and chemical reuse, plus WASTE Recovery Technology’s electrowinning, BOO and anode distribution. Public roles do not establish named contracts; recovered volume does not directly translate into profit.
PCBs: materials, manufacturing and board types
Follow resins, glass cloth and copper into laminates, board fabrication and board types. A material may serve several board types; its properties do not by themselves describe a finished board.
Semiconductors: design, fabrication and packaging
Read design, wafer fabrication, packaging and testing together with their materials and equipment. Process order and company business models are different views; one company can participate in several stages.
Switches and optical interconnects: chips to systems
Connect switch silicon and systems with lasers, optical engines, fiber and receivers, and compare cable reach and applications. Distinguish components, modules and packaging architectures instead of treating pluggable optics, silicon photonics and CPO as the same product.
LEO satellites: services, deployment and hardware
Satellite connectivity combines constellation operations, launch, payloads and ground equipment. Start with service delivery, then trace the hardware supporting it; component makers and service operators deliver different things.
Phones: manufacturing, ICs and brand cooperation
Trace design and manufacturing, compute, display/touch, sensors and batteries, then inspect disclosed brand cooperation. Customer lists, product categories and named models have different evidence scopes and do not establish supply shares or revenue impacts.
AI hardware: cloud, client and edge systems
Place compute chips within servers, data centers, PCs and edge devices, then examine memory, power and cooling. Different applications have different constraints; a cloud configuration does not apply to every client device.
AI services: models, data and application integration
Compare compute, data, models, applications and implementation across language, visual generation and machine vision. Model capabilities, software features and deployed outcomes need separate verification.
Drones: subsystems, aircraft and mission services
Follow airframes, propulsion, flight control, navigation, links and payloads before comparing consumer, industrial and military missions. Use categories are not performance rankings; aircraft capability depends on subsystem integration.
Nuclear energy: fuel, equipment, operations and back end
Read fuel preparation, plant equipment, operations and spent-fuel management as a lifecycle. Large reactors, SMRs and microreactors differ in design and development; a category alone does not establish commercial readiness or supply contracts.
E-commerce: transactions, fulfillment and supporting services
Start with the transaction, then examine logistics, returns, payments and software. Platforms, merchants and service providers may take different responsibilities; distinguish goods, information and payment flows.
Electric vehicles: drivetrains, vehicles, charging and recovery
Follow drivetrains, control and thermal management into vehicles and charging, then consider end-of-use batteries. Component performance and vehicle outcomes have different validation scopes; a capability is not evidence of a vehicle order.
Traction batteries: materials, processes, cells and validation
Trace electrodes, separators, electrolytes and current collectors through electrode processing, assembly, formation and testing. Compare energy density, life, safety and production progress within their stated test conditions.
Glass substrates: materials, TGVs, routing and packaging
Separate glass materials, vias, metallization and routing before examining glass-core substrates and interposers. Equipment, processes and architectures are related, but glass-substrate products do not all follow one route.
Wind power: materials, turbines, sites and maintenance
Materials and castings feed turbine integration, while sites shape foundations, installation, cables and maintenance. Onshore, fixed-bottom and floating offshore wind are different deployment contexts; not every branch is required in every project.
Thermal power and grids: fuel, generation and electricity delivery
Separate coal and gas fuel paths, then examine boilers, steam turbines, gas turbines, engineering and environmental services. Generation, transmission and consumption are distinct stages; fuel suppliers are not necessarily plant operators.
Cooling: materials, air, liquid and facility systems
Identify where heat is generated and how it leaves before comparing air, cold-plate and immersion cooling. Components, equipment loops and facilities must work together; materials and interfaces are not interchangeable across architectures.
Memory: DRAM, flash, modules and HBM
Distinguish memory chips, controllers, modules and finished storage products, then examine HBM and advanced integration. Similar product names do not imply the same supply-chain role; capacity, bandwidth and packaging describe different requirements.
Logistics: general freight, shipping and specialist transport
Choose a path by cargo: containers, bulk, liquids, gases, heavy equipment or precision goods. Transport assets, storage facilities and service integration have different roles; experience with one cargo does not establish capability for every cargo.
Petrochemical feedstocks: refining, cracking and intermediates
Follow feedstocks and basic chemicals through intermediates to resin inputs. These entries describe roles and common paths; an intermediate may have several sources and uses, so a connection does not define a unique formulation.
Polymers: commodity, engineering and specialty materials
Compare polymer families, then connect formulation, processing and applications. A resin name does not specify final performance; grade, reinforcement, additives and processing conditions require product-level verification.
Composites: formulation, reinforcement, molding and quality
Read resin formulation, reinforcement and forming together with quality verification. Prepreg, infusion, RTM, pultrusion and winding are alternative process paths rather than a single sequence required for every product.
Server racks: mechanics, power, compute and delivery
Connect rack mechanics, power, cooling and interconnects with factory integration and site acceptance. Rack delivery depends on subsystems working together; a server or component specification does not describe the complete system.
Payments: interfaces, processing and settlement
Trace payment interfaces through acquiring, card networks, accounts, clearing and settlement. Authorization, merchant payout and interbank settlement are different events; cards, bank accounts and wallet balances follow different paths.
Solar power: materials, manufacturing, plants and recycling
Separate crystalline-silicon and CdTe thin-film manufacturing, then trace materials, factory equipment, inverters, project engineering, operation and recycling. Taiwanese and international organizations are mapped by their public products and services, distinguishing research, equipment supply and plant operation.
Power electronics: Si, SiC, GaN, components and systems
Separate power-semiconductor substrates, epitaxy, design, fabrication and packaging, then trace magnetics, capacitors, PSUs, power shelves and board-level power. Component, PSU and rack-level power or efficiency figures are not directly comparable.
