ENGLISH OVERVIEW

GPUs and AI Accelerators

Compute performance depends on more than the processor

GPUs process many operations in parallel. AI accelerator is a broader category that also includes purpose-built chips. Useful performance depends on memory capacity and bandwidth, communication, software and cooling as well as compute units.

Memory and packaging enable the chip

Some high-performance accelerators place HBM beside logic for a wide memory interface. Advanced packaging provides the dense connections.

  • The packaged processor then becomes part of a module or board alongside CPU, networking, storage and power or cooling systems.

Compare complete workloads

Hold model, numerical precision, batch size, software version and power conditions constant before comparing throughput and latency.

  • Peak compute alone cannot describe the speed of an actual application.

Connected industry roles

Links describe supply, classification, technology or services. They do not establish transactions between individual companies.
