ENGLISH OVERVIEW
LEO Satellite Communications
Network operation, services and hardware in distinct roles
The LEO communications chain includes constellation operation, service integration, satellite manufacturing, launch, ground stations and user terminals. Start with who operates the network and delivers the service, then follow the hardware and material requirements.
A system with space, ground and user segments
User equipment accesses the network; satellites relay or process traffic; ground systems connect to terrestrial networks and support operations. Some architectures use inter-satellite links before traffic reaches the ground.
- Moving satellites require tracking and handovers. Orbital altitude alone does not determine service quality.
Roles can be combined or contracted separately
Constellation operators manage networks, integrators deliver customer services, manufacturers build satellites, launch providers place them in orbit and ground-network services support operations.
- SpaceX covers several roles; Eutelsat, Airbus and local partners illustrate divided responsibilities. Functional links are not a complete supplier list for any operator.
Follow installation location to the material
A part on a satellite, in a gateway or inside a user terminal faces different requirements. Antennas and RF modules lead to PCB and laminate requirements, then resin, glass and copper.
- Technical availability, design-in, qualification and production are separate milestones.
Companies by industry role
Connected industry roles
Links describe supply, classification, technology or services. They do not establish transactions between individual companies.
Communication Satellites → LEO Satellite Communications
Space-segment component
Communications satellites combine with ground and user equipment to deliver service; this is system composition, not a specific transaction.
Eutelsat | OneWeb LEO network architectureGround Stations and Gateways → LEO Satellite Communications
Ground-segment equipment
Gateways and network equipment carry traffic; mission control supports satellite operations and need not share the same site.
NASA | Ground data systems and mission operationsSatellite User Terminals → LEO Satellite Communications
User access equipment
Compatible terminals deliver a selected satellite network's service to users; specifications vary by application.
Eutelsat | LEO user equipment and antenna optionsLEO Constellation Operators → LEO Satellite Communications
Constellation and network operation
Managing satellite constellations and connectivity is part of the overall satellite communication service.
Eutelsat | OneWeb constellationSatellite Services and Integration → LEO Satellite Communications
User services and network integration
Integrates satellite connectivity into user or enterprise networks, including service and support.
